1 Billion for the Climate is a campaign to raise One Billion Dollars, to fund projects that reduce climate change causing emissions.

Individually we can’t do anything, but money is power, so if we gather a lot of money then maybe we’ll have weight to make some appreciable difference to this doomscape.

Send no money now! The idea is If you pledge some money, and enough other people also commit pledges totalling over $1000,000,000, then we’ll ask everyone to actually make the donation. So you only donate when (if) the campaign gathers enough weight to potentially make a difference.

We want to fund lawsuits, we want to acquire and retire fossil fuel drilling and mining licences, we want to shut down polluting companies… oh and we want to buy a coal fired power station and make it into a theme park.

(Also, we’ll carve your name on a stone or something as a record for future generations to see that some people tried something to avert the worst of it).
